Why I cancelled my readathon last year // Why it’s back!

As you might have noticed by my pinned current tweet on my Twitter, I have advertised my month-long readathon, that I created September last year.

I came up with the idea while trying to think of a book series I would like to read, along side a children’s series. “The Chronicles of Narnia” does both.

I decided that over the space of a month it is plenty of time to read the short 7 book series and it will get people reading again as it is a simple level to start back up reading.

Sadly no one was able to join in or promote my readathon, so I shelved it for the year. But as it’s been a whole year already, I thought I would try and bring it back this year. Hopefully a few if not a lot of people will be interested in trying it this year.

Not only will it give my blog more publicity. It will also encourage new and old readers. ????

I hope you join me this year and I look forward to us all completing the NarnAThon challenge by 30th September.

    Happy Reading!

The Seasons: Summer, Spring, Fall & Winter.

The Autumn traditionally falls over the months of September to November. It is the lead up to the Winter, which is normally over the Christmas & New Year period but the weather in the UK is unpredictable – sometimes it isn’t what you expect at all…

Sometimes we have sunny weather in Autumn and sometimes it rains or snows. You have to be on your guard all year round and keep up with the weather reports too. I personally love to look at the snow but have trouble getting around in that weather. My favourite two seasons are definitely the more open seasons that are neither too hot or cold. I love Autumn & Spring. When the trees change colour and the weather is easy going.

I hope in 2019 to document some of the seasonal changes on my new Canon “Bridge” Camera. I hope to show you the extremes of the weather (if I can). In 2018, we had extremely heavy snow in Winter & an extreme heat wave in Summer, so I look forward to seeing what the next year seasons will give us.

This summer I managed to make the most of it & go to quite a few events, mainly local, with friends & family. I managed to go to 2 food festivals (one was too hot & too crowded to stay long) and I also managed to get a cracking summer tan (with sun lotion) from my own garden. I love summer as it is the time of the year where everything is fun and there is no school (some also have time off work too).

My main concern in the fall weather is the rain and cold. I hate rain as someone with curly hair, all it does is frizz which makes styling impossible. However, it can also be the same in humidity. On the plus side, I love wearing sweatpants & big knits, which is what fall weather’s all about.

What is your favourite season? Do you prefer the warmer or colder weather? What is your go-to Autumn/Fall outfit? Tell me in the comments below!

  • The Library

    September = School, right?

So it’s September already. Well, technically it’s mid-September 2018. As far as I can remember September always reminded me of school. Even now it still does. September in my head always reminds me of that “back to school” vibe that everyone in the blogging community uses year after year, well here’s my version…

As a library volunteer with a library next to a school that often uses our services, it dawns on me when school is open & closed. We very often see the classes from the school come into the library to collect their books for the term, normally there is a theme such as animals or trains that the classes have chosen for the year.

I see a lot of children pass through the library with parents also & we tend to have a reading challenge in the summer so that children don’t stop reading or struggle when going back to school in the autumn.

I am a great believer in learning but struggle myself. I haven’t got a learning difficulty but I find it very hard to study for more than a few months at a time & keep concentration. In the past, I have quit 2 courses & failed one before. How I manage to continue blogging over a year later, is a miracle but this blog is my favourite past-time.

Anyway back to school (haha, see what I did there? No? Never mind!). I believe that September is a month of change; the new school year (which makes me think I can start afresh). Also, it’s the time when the season is changing soon, with the cooler weather – I’m all for it, after this ridiculous 2018 UK Summer heatwave.

How do you feel about the month of September? Do you get that back to school vibe even if you have no children (maybe they are a part of your job?) Also are you looking forward to the Autumn & the weather it brings?
